We recognise that the underprivileged exist in urban and rural environments. We have actively chosen to address the rural population initially, due to the significant lack of resources in that environment. Rural population healthcare needs are not always the same as those in more urbanised areas, although there is an overlap. Rural care centers, as a concept, was developed during childhood visits to the village of our grandparents, which would be a opportunity for the village population to seek help with health issues with which they lived without the opportunity for treatment. This led to the insight that a significant proportion of the rural population have injuries and health issues which are routinely addressed, as a matter of finances or opportunity. This leads to conditions becoming chronic with a cumulative effect, leading to more suffering and ultimately a reduced quality of life. Rural centers that provide basic care and advice served by routine opening hours will allow access to care for a significant population who otherwise normally received no care.
