The Second 2022 Orthopaedic Camp at VIRRD Hospital, Dwarakatiruumala, AP India, was Hosted by Dr Bhavyachand Manne, Mr IVR Sudhakar, and the Board of Trustees and staff. In the 3 day camp more than 70 patients were seen and assessed in out patient clinics, most were advised and prescribed rehabilitation or injections, and 18 patients were operatively treated. We also followed up from several patients from the previous camp to assess their progress, and fortunately they were all progressing very well and returned to their livelihoods.
The team that we were able to work with were just amazing. While they may have been unfamiliar with our surgical procedures, the baseline attitude of willingness to learn and be part of a team for the benefit of the patient’s outcome was truely humbling. The camp could not have been successful without the nurses, para-medical staff, anaesthesia team, operating room scrub nurses and staff, and the doctors that work there every day (Dr Bhavyachand Manne and Dr Hameed Shaik.
