The first 2023 Orthopaedic Camp at VIRRD Hospital, Dwarka Tirumala, AP India, was again hosted by Dr Bhavyachand Manne, Mr IVR Sudhakar, and the Board of Trustees and staff. In the 4 day camp 72 patients were seen and assessed in out-patient clinics, most were advised and prescribed rehabilitation or injections were provided, and 17 complex patients were operatively treated.
The clinic and operating room team were mostly the same as the last camp, with very few changes. The teams remained amazing, with respect to their work ethic, diligence to learning new procedures and techniques, and we never heard a single complaint. They were unfamiliar with some of our surgical procedures (anatomic stemless and reverse shoulder arthroplasty DJO, but they all displayed the truely humbling outlook of “do whatever it takes for the patient”. The campwas successful because of the nurses, para-medical staff, anaesthesia team, operating room scrub nurses and staff, OR clean team, and the doctors that work there every day (Dr Bhavyachand Manne, Dr Hameed Shaik, Dr Balaji.
The main external sponsors who generously donated suture anchors were Conmed Corporation (Pat Beyer), Enovis DJO, I+J Medical, Quiddity Infotech. We are truely grateful for their kindness which directly allowed us to improve the lives of those who, otherwise, were in a state of long-term suffering without the possibility of treatment.
